Branded Hashtags: How to Create and Use One
A branded hashtag groups your content and customer posts. Learn to make one that sticks.
A branded hashtag is a tag unique to your business, creator identity or campaign, such as your shop name or a slogan. Done well, it gathers your content in one place and makes it easy for customers to share theirs.
What makes a good branded tag
Keep it short, easy to spell and different from anything else. Check the tag page first: if it is full of unrelated posts, choose another. Avoid words with several spellings.
Decide its purpose
Some tags identify your brand all the time. Others are for a single campaign, like a giveaway or a launch. Do not overload one tag with both jobs.
Use it consistently
Add it to relevant posts and ask customers to use it when they share your products. Feature the best customer posts, with permission.
Follow the rules
If a campaign rewards people for posting, make the rules clear and follow platform promotion rules and advertising disclosure requirements. Do not ask people to tag unrelated content.
Count it in your limit
If your platform allows only five tags, your branded tag takes one slot. Decide whether it deserves the spot for each post.
Build a brand tag people can actually understand
A branded hashtag works best when it is short enough to remember and clearly connected to the brand or campaign. Before adopting one, search the tag, check its existing usage and make sure it is not already associated with an unrelated meaning. Then use it consistently in the content where it is relevant, while keeping the rest of the hashtag set descriptive. A branded tag is an identity label, not a replacement for topic or location context.
