Art posts include sketches, paintings, digital illustration and process videos. Tags work best when they name the medium and the subject.
Instagram announced in December 2025 that posts and Reels can use up to 5 hashtags. Because product rollouts and public documentation can change, confirm the current in-app behaviour before publishing. Pick the 5 that describe the post most precisely.

Focused tags for the #art subject, format or setting.
Editorial guidance
Drawing posts can showcase sketches, studies, digital illustration, tutorials, materials or finished artwork. The medium and subject usually matter more than generic art tags.
Identify the medium and subject, then add style, process or community terms only when they describe the work.
Editor’s note: For drawing, the medium and subject are strong descriptive signals. They help a viewer understand the work before the broad art-community tags.
